About RAWSA Alliance

RAWSA (Regional Advocacy for Women’s Sustainable Advancement) Alliance was established in 2019 in Tunisia. In 2021, the headquarters were moved to Egypt. It’s the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) -based, women-led, and feminist organization that has more than 150 members including feminists, human rights experts, healthcare, media, and legal professionals. The organization’s main focus areas are women’s rights, gender equality, safe abortion, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender-based violence (GBV), FGM/C, marginalized groups’ rights – LGBTQI+ communities, people with disabilities, refugees, ethnic minorities, indigenous people, migrants, forcibly-displaced people. Indeed, RAWSA was the first NGO in the MENA region that emphasized the intersection between gender equality and climate change.

Mission

Empower women and marginalized communities and ensure their bodily autonomy by regional advocacy for human rights, gender equality, and climate justice to transform practices, policies, and laws related to above-indicated issues and groups.

Vision

Support, educate, and empower women and marginalized communities to reach their potential and effectively participate across all spheres of society by knowing their rights and responsibilities and being able to make their own decisions. It also, stresses the urgency of climate action to promote women's and marginalized communities’ rights.
